consent guide

consent is complex and nonbinary. consent can be sexy, yes, but we do ourselves a disservice when we talk about consent as two options: enthusiastic, informed, and sexy or malicious sexual assault. my views on consent are shaped by kink and liberation movements. consent violations are so core to the way our economy works, we often fail to even recognize them. we are imperfect beings and most people experience and/or commit minor nonsexual consent misses everyday with loved ones, acquaintances, coworkers and strangers.

i want to exist in this world committed to minimizing the harm i cause. i truly want the best for my fellow beings, and i believe many of you feel the same way. "common rational man" believers are telling on themselves. we are beautifully diverse, often irrational, and always interconnected. let's decolonize the way we think about consent by complicating it.

this consent guide will be a forever changing living covenant:

consent can be:

verbal and/or nonverbal
sexy and/or pragmatic
enthusiastic and/or intentional
negotiated in advanced and/or responsive in the moment

verbal

you ask "can i spank you?"

"would you like a hug?"

nonverbal
